Physicians and other medical professionals who engage in wilderness activities, who counsel individuals who take part in such activities, or who are likely to encounter illness or injury in remote or resource-limited settings.

 

CME Information

The Wilderness Medical Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Each physician should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

8 California Continuing Education credits available for Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.
 

MOUNTAIN BIKING AND CME

During three days in one of the world's great vacation destinations, physicians, nurses, mid-level practitioners and medics can earn 8 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits while enjoying world class mountain biking on two half-day long adventures with Tahoe's finest guide service. With Lake Tahoe's legendary biking trails and iconic mountain towns, this affordable CME adventure is going to sell out quickly! The course will be based in Truckee, CA.

Schedule:

Thursday:
4 PM - 7 PM - Introductions, Wilderness Medicine lectures, and gear check.

Friday:
8 AM - 12 PM - Wilderness Medicine lectures and hands-on workshops
1 PM  -   6PM - Mountain Biking with Tahoe Mountain Guides

Saturday:
8 AM - 12 PM - Wilderness Medicine lectures and hands-on workshops
1 PM -- 6 PM - Mountain Biking with Tahoe Mountain Guides

Educational Objectives: After attending this conference, the participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate increased awareness of medical problems unique to the wilderness and austere environments
  • Prevent, diagnose and manage illnesses or injuries in the wilderness and/or remote location
  • Promote increased awareness of safety and accident prevention in wilderness surroundings

Mountain Biking available Friday and Saturday afternoons with guides from Tahoe Mountain Guides, includes transportation to and from the trail, guided rides, and limited skills training. Bike Rental is not included.
